Quartzsite, Az

My winter destination was somewhat anticlimactic. All the bus nuts had left and the RV show was winding down, but the town was as advertised... bustling with snow-birds and mild weather. I opted for the 14 day long-term resident parking permit for $40.00 and staked out a flat spot. Just days before it was wall-to-wall, but now there was a little elbow room for everyone. I asked some nice folks from Wisconsin (Dave and Kathy) if they minded having a next door neighbor; got permission and Coffee and I set up camp.

Everyone flocks to the Post Office. It has to have the highest percentage of General Delivery mail of any Post Office in the U.S.

Traffic was light now, just a few days before it took 10 minutes to travel 1/4 mile. I couldn't park and get a picture of that!

It was a real surprise and treat when Caren and Richard called to say they were in the area! They stopped by for a few days on their way back to El Paso. Quartzsite is where they saw Charlie Brown's bus, and the rest is history. Thanks to them I'm a wandering bum!
I made a quick trip up to Mohave (just outside of Needles, Ca.) to visit with Clifford. I missed seeing him and the rest of the Eagles here in Q, but being so close, I had to stop by and thank him for all the help with the 3rd member etc. He and Sonya and I had a nice lunch. Here's his bus. He's Luvrbus on the BNO board.

This is Van's bus parked here at Cliffords. It toasted the engine on the way back from Quartzsite. Van lives in Boulder City, and helped me when I drove to Las Vegas to pick up the differential from Gary. Thanks again, Van.

New friends and Eagle owners Rick and Becky with Pepper. Two nights of shared dinners and politics and this dyed-in-the-wool Oregon Liberal was on his way to Yuma! Actually really enjoyed meeting them and I hope to drop in to see them up north this summer. Enjoyed your company!

Here's my version of Richard's battery topper-off'er for boondocking. It worked great after getting the right belt and pully from Hank's Hardware in Q. After an overnight of battery use for lights and tv, I'd run it an hour or so and be ready for another days useage. Pretty slick, Richard. Thanks.

Two weeks was about my limit for Quartzsite this year. I'll definitely be back and hope to make the Eagle rally one of these years. It's back to Scottsdale and the big city comforts... boondocking at Wal-Mart!
